From our origins of launching our own label ‘Maiyet’ in 2011, a flagship store on New York’s Crosby Street and showing at NYFW to our transition into a collective; bringing together the most exciting international curation of positive impact brands, our mission has always been the same. To discover the true value of fashion, and to readdress the balance in an industry that often places greater value on aesthetics alone without baring consciousness to the how, the who and the true environmental and human cost’s at play.
Maiyet the label was a pioneer of artisanal collaboration, from Mongolia to India, from Peru to across Africa we worked in partnership with highly skilled individuals to co-develop products for the luxury market. Fusing the concepts of luxury and ethical, whilst consistently rooted in a ‘no compromise’ design ethos, to produce something that customers will be compelled to buy regardless of our mission. This remains true today, and defines how we approach our collective.
Since launching in the UK in 2018 as a pop-up concept store, The Maiyet Collective has brought together the largest curation of positive impact luxury brands under one ‘roof’ on a rotational basis. Our unique concept store provides a showcase for like-minded brands and consumers who share our philosophy and mission. Through our collective voice, we aim to educate, inspire and create a community of individuals who are committed to changing the way we think, create and consume fashion. It is a space to gather, to make connections, to story-tell and cultivate immersive, inspirational retail experiences. We seek brands who not only create beautiful products, but who seek alternatives to common place procedures that impart damage and pressure; both environmental and human, who celebrate talent, culture, tradition and the artisans preserving these processes, who approach the design process with consciousness and care, and who pioneer innovation despite the obstacles this presents.
In October 2018, The Maiyet Collective launched in the heart of Mayfair at the conscious membership club The Conduit, followed by hosting a two week pop-up store in London’s Harvey Nichols, and most recently curating a 2000sqft concept store at luxury shopping destination Bicester Village in November 2019. In May 2020 we launched our online marketplace, to expand our global reach and act as a greater vehicle for change to our brand partners.
